Warehouse Assistant Volunteer
Sorting the food that comes to our warehouse and preparing food orders for delivery to member agencies is a huge part of our operation. Working in our warehouse is a great opportunity to directly impact our mission, while building wonderful and lasting friendships!
As a warehouse assistant volunteer, you’ll inspect, clean, sort and box up food donations, while helping ensure we distribute safe and high quality food to our member agencies every day.
Shifts:
All warehouse shifts take place at 67 Wright Ave, Dartmouth. We ask that all warehouse volunteers commit to an ongoing, weekly shift.
- Monday PM – Friday AM (no Monday mornings or Friday afternoons)
- Morning shift – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Afternoon shift – 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Responsibilities:
- Check that donations meet health and safety and quality guidelines
- Sort food donations into categories
- Respect food safety standards
- Weigh and palletize food
- Build agency orders
Requirements:
- Able to lift 25kg repeatedly
- Comfortable on feet for 3 hours
- Read and understand food labels
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable with varying warehouse temperatures
- Must be 18+, or 16+ with parental consent
