Privacy Policy
In the course of its operations, Feed Nova Scotia must acquire information about its clients, donors, employees and volunteers that is often of a highly personal and sensitive nature. Accordingly, the organization endeavours to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. Feed Nova Scotia will appoint one or more employees to ensure that the goals of this policy are met.
Feed Nova Scotia must be responsible and accountable for the information under its control. Personal information may not be used or disclosed for any purpose other than that for which it was collected.
With certain narrow exceptions, consent must be given, whether expressly or implicitly, before Feed Nova Scotia may obtain or use personal information. If certain information is absolutely required for a specific service or program, then Feed Nova Scotia may decline to offer that service if an individual refuses to provide their information.
Secure safeguards shall be in place for personal information. Sensitive personal information shall be kept in a locked cabinet, while electronic information shall be accessible only to authorized users through password access.
Feed Nova Scotia must provide full access and disclosure to individuals whose information has been collected. In addition, information about these policies and practices shall be made readily available to all individuals.
In certain instances, individuals may have the right to challenge the implementation of this policy at Feed Nova Scotia, and/or file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Federal Court of Canada.
