Pushing for change
No one understands the urgent need for long-term solutions more than our member agencies.
The Canning & Area Food Bank snapped up to the opportunity to raise awareness and influence change during the recent provincial election. Volunteers Cari Patterson and Tim Amos packed up a food hamper and visited candidates in their Kings North riding to talk about the challenges members of their community face every day. The hamper created a powerful reminder that while the food bank is there to help fill the gap, they are only able to provide two to three days’ worth of food once a month, and that real, sustainable solutions will require all hands on deck.
Kudos to Canning to keeping food insecurity top of mind at a critical time. Are hunger and poverty on your MLA’s agenda? Connect with your MLA and find out!
