Look what you did

For Nova Scotians who struggle with food insecurity, you gave comfort today. Thank you. We’re so grateful for your support. Donations like yours ensure our trucks are on the road every day, distributing safe, nutritious food to 140 food banks, meal programs, and shelters. They also allow us to go beyond food to do things like helping our members build capacity, collecting, analyzing, and sharing vital statistics, and advocating for change.

Knowing you care about your neighbours in need, we hope you might do one more thing for them today.

Helping people meet their critical need for food today is a big part of our work, and the generous community of donors like you makes that possible. But for Nova Scotians to be food secure, everyone needs physical and economic access to food. Only bold policy intervention will make that a reality. Consider sending the message below to your elected official—your municipal councillor, provincial MLA, or federal MP—or better yet, all three.

Your voice matters. And we hope you’ll use it to help us push for a future where no one must rely on charity to meet a basic need.

Dear [elected official],

I donated to Feed Nova Scotia today, because I believe everyone should have access to nutritious, safe food when they need it for themselves and their families.

But I also believe that no one should have to rely on charity to meet a very basic need. I’ve helped provide food for today, but I want you and your colleagues to find a long-term solution for tomorrow. Food insecurity and poverty reached crisis levels long ago and addressing the root causes of these issues will not only provide dignity to those suffering but strengthen everyone’s quality of life.

The health of Nova Scotians and the communities in which we all live are counting on your leadership.

Sincerely,

[your name]
